An integration between Alfresco and Odoo

One of the great features Acsone will present during the Odoo experience 2016 event is the Alfodoo connector. This connector helps to seamlessly integrate Odoo with Alfresco, the leading open-source Enterprise Content Management platform, when documents and content management capabilities are necessary.

Alfodoo combines the benefits of both systems and helps to deliver a global platform covering a wide range of functionality that an organization requires.

The major functionality of this unique integration between both systems are the following:
  • From a user's point of view, the users can manage their Alfresco contents transparently within the Odoo user interface:
    • Easy storage and management of documents
    • Embedded document preview
    • Contents drag & drop directly in the appropriate Alfresco folder
    • Automatic versioning of documents
    • Document properties (metadata) preview
  • From a developer's point of view, the ease of installation and configuration:  a new type of odoo field (cmis_field) can be used to embed the creation and the linking to an alfresco folder. A widget is associated to this field giving a direct access to the items (documents lists, sub-folders) contained in the linked Alfresco folder.

Alfodoo will be launched as an open source module during the 2016 Odoo Experience which will be held in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) from the 5th to the 7th of October 2016. It is licensed under the AGPL3 licence, which is a free, copyleft license, specifically designed to foster cooperation with the community.

This October release focuses on a first set of document management base functionality. The module roadmap defines the elements to exploit the Alfresco document management functionality even further.

The Alfodoo addons are organized through a set of pure CMIS 1.1 compliant modules and a set of Alfresco specific extension modules; allowing the connector to be extended in the future with possible integration with other CMIS compliant content management systems.
